What's a better way to spend your Sunday night if not with your closest and dearest group of gal pals? And the occasion? Food, of course.
Six beautiful foodies gathered together for a Sunday night out to enjoy some authentic Korean food. You could say that our curiosity about traditional Korean dishes grew from our shared love of Korean dramas. Being able to spend quality time with those you care about is truly a gift. So, this rare occasion was needed bonding time for all of us. For me at least, it was my first visiting a Korean restaurant in our city. The restaurant is called Little Korea, and I wasn't sure what to expect, but I certainly wasn't disappointed. The experience was a deliciously good time. I loved every single dish, so I thought to share my top five (5) dishes, from most to least favourite.
Kimchi Jjigae
A spicy stew made with fully aged kimchi, pork, and tofu -- This was perhaps my absolute favorite dish to try. It was so good and paired well with a side of white rice. I still can't stop thinking about it. It was so yummy.
Beef Bulgogi with Noodles
Authentic beef bulgogi served with noodles -- The beef was well-cooked and the noodles mixed well with the sauce. It was my second favourite for sure. Also, I love any occasion where I can put my chopstick skills to good use.
Yangnyum (YumYum) Wings
Juicy wings, perfectly cooked in a sweet chili sauce -- The sweet chili sauce certainly elevated the taste of the wings. It was the right side dish to go along with everything else we ordered.
Fried Wings
Perfectly cooked, juicy chicken wings -- Another great side dish to go along with a full-course meal. I love fried chicken, so I would have this at any given time.
Topokki
Stir-fried rice cake with spicy sauce -- I always thought this was a kind of pasta dish when I saw characters having this in K-dramas. The shape of the rice cake does kind of remind me of penne pasta. But Topokki is slightly larger in size and chewy. It tasted pretty good with the spicy sauce. However, I'm not sure I'll get again it next time, mainly because there are just so many other dishes I would love to try!
The Girls: Truly the loveliest people I know. <3
The makgeolli (Korean rice wine) was so good. It was my first time trying it, too.
Before: I was so excited when the food came. Everything looked so good, and the options seemed endless!
After: As you can see, we cleared all our dishes like the food lovers we are. The taste was beyond gratifying.
The smile says it all. It was a feast to remember. I'm looking forward to trying more dishes next time. Until then, let's continue to support local businesses in our communities as much as we can.
Thank you so much for being here. I'll see you in the next story, friend.
Warmly, Grace.
